The Planning Process

Establish the Relationship

This step actually precedes the financial planning process. During our 15-minute introductory phone call, you can begin to get to know me and I can begin to understand what is most important to you and what you hope to get out of a financial planning relationship.

If we both feel that working together could be a good fit, then we will schedule a 60-90 minute discovery meeting. In this meeting, we will explore things like why money is important to you, what is most valuable to you in your life, and how you can use your money to maximize those things.

At the end of this meeting, I will discuss the next steps to take towards becoming a client and then I will let you sleep on it. I don't want you to rush the decision to become a client or not. Take your time. We are focused on working with clients for the long-term, we don't have to move forward today.

Getting Organized

(AKA: Data Gathering)

Once we begin working together, our focus will be on getting all your financial accounts accounted for. Things can get lost in the mix pretty easily after going through a couple of life transitions like getting married, changing jobs, or moving.

There are a lot of pieces to your financial puzzle: Investment accounts, insurance contracts, bank statements, tax returns...that's a lot of stuff — and the list could go on. That's why we will assist you in getting all of it organized so that you have a solid foundation to build your financial plan on.

Getting organized first ensures we have all the information we need to understand where you stand financially and what opportunities you may (or may not) be missing out on. We will provide you with a step-by-step process to help make this as painless as possible.
